Fall in Crested Butte: Three Big Rides

Last weekend we hosted a great group of riders for our last fall trip to Crested Butte, and we rewarded them with one of the best itineraries we’ve put together.  One big factor was the weather: rarely do we get through a 4-day fall trip in Crested Butte without getting rained or snowed out for a day (in which case we head south to Gunnison to ride Hartman Rocks).  Instead, this group hit the weather jackpot – for four days, we had 60 degrees and sunny, with absolutely perfect trail conditions.

Like usual, our first day was a shorter (15 mile) shakedown ride that allowed the group to acclimate to the higher elevation, before really hitting the GO button and putting together three more days of Crested Butte epics.  Below, we’ve done our best to capture those rides in a group of photos.  Enjoy.

Teocalli Ridge, Canal Trail and Strand Hill: 20 miles, 3600 feet climbing

R-F-B-D and Doctor Park: 26 miles, 2700 feet climbing (5400 feet descending)

403 and 401: 14 miles, 2300 feet climbing (4000 descending)
