Chasing Epic: The Next Evolution

What does Chasing Epic mean to us?  It means big days on the bike, in beautiful landscapes, on amazing singletrack, with awesome people.  It means refueling with incredible food, (maybe) a post-ride beer, and doing it all over again the next day.  At Chasing Epic, we’ve been offering some of the best guided, all-inclusive mountain bike trips to the best destinations in North America for more than 10 years.  Whether it’s the uber-technical riding of British Columbia or all-day backcountry adventure epics in the Rocky Mountains, our goal is to create unique experiences you’ll remember forever.

All of our trips are guided and fully all-inclusive, which means you just need to bring your helmet, shoes and sense of adventure.  And beginning in 2027 we’re introducing our “Choose Your Own Adventure” format which will allow you to choose a trip from our calendar and make it your own:  you choose the ride difficulty each day so you can customize how hard you want to ride, or how mellow you want your MTB vacation to be.  More on that below!

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE (NEW FOR ’27)

Starting with our 2027 trips, we’re introducing something completely new for our guided mountain bike trips, and frankly the entire industry!  We like to call it our “Choose Your Own Adventure” format:  to keep it simple, on each day of the trip you’ll have multiple options depending on how you feel or how hard you want to go.  Not feeling it one day?  No problem, we’ll have an easier, more mellow ride option.  Want to push it a bit to see what you’ve got?  We’ll also have a longer/harder ride that day with more miles and a slightly faster pace.  You don’t have to commit until the night before or the morning of the ride (depending on logistics), and we will provide a full explanation of the options along with what you can expect on each.  This means every one of our trips will be appropriate for everyone from intermediate up to highly-advanced riders!  Check out THIS PAGE for more info!

Common FAQs

What if the weather is bad?

Unfortunately we can’t control the weather.  If the weather is bad for part of the trip, we’ll do our best to find an area where the trails are rideable; a few miles typically make a big difference in weather patterns in the mountains.  We try to plan our trips around the best times to visit each destination, which typically means we’ve got pretty sweet weather.  In 11 years of running Chasing Epic trips, we’ve had less than five days of riding completely rained out.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • 50% refund 90+ days in advance (including deposits)
  • 25% refund 60-90 days in advance
  • No refund less than 60 days in advance

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance (there will be a link included in your confirmation email) to make sure you’re covered, as we’ve seen trips cancelled for all kinds of reasons!

How technically difficult are the rides?

We recommend taking a look at the information specific to the trip you’re interested in to find more detail.  We’ve also published multiple blog posts detailing what you can expect and how each trip compares.  In general, we rate the trips as follows (least to most technical):

Sun Valley

Crested Butte

Durango

Fruita / Moab

Monarch Crest

Whistler

Revelstoke

How is transportation handled on the trips?

All of our customers are required to provide their own transportation (car rental, shuttle, taxi, Uber) to/from the initial trip meeting location.  Once you’ve arrived at our lodging, we’ll handle all transportation to/from trailheads, restaurants, etc. with our guide and trip leader vehicles plus utilization of shuttle vans for bigger groups.  Occasionally customers want their own vehicle to run to the store or check out a local sight- not a problem!  HERE’S THE FULL LIST OF FAQs
