Photo Essay: Big Rides in Big Mountains (Monarch Crest Enduro)
Last week we wrapped up our Monarch Crest Enduro with the crew from Worldwide Cyclery, and it was a doozy! All told for the four days of riding, we racked up 90 miles with 8,700′ of climbing and just over 20,000′ of descending and most certainly had a group of 12 worn out mountain bikers after the last day. This trip is certainly one of our hardest 4-day itineraries with the combination of high elevation, rowdy riding, and the big pedal day on Canyon Creek. But you know what? Across the board, every rider loved being pushed and challenged beyond what they typically ride at home. That’s why you sign up for these trips, right?
Take a look below at our daily ride breakdown, along with a few rider reviews thrown in for good measure:
Day 1: Starvation Creek & S-Mountain
Distance/Climb/Descend: 30 miles, 2000′, 7000′
“An overall fantastic package; could not be more satisfied at having participated in one of these experiences. Organization was flawless, guidance was top notch, trail choice was challenging and extremely rewarding, and the camaraderie was inspirational. Finally, the scenery was breath-taking; just amazing in every way…”
Day 2: Greens Creek & Fooses Creek
Distance/Climb/Descend: 28 miles, 1500′, 7000′
“Comprehensive mountain bike vacation done right! Ride the best trails with professional guides in locations specifically planned for your group. If you bring your fitness and riding skill, Chasing Epic will do the rest! Ride with other highly skilled riders and enjoy a nice meal and beverage at the end of the day. What could be better! If your thinking about it, BOOK IT!”
Day 3: Canyon Creek Loop
Distance/Climb/Descend: 20 miles, 3800′, 3800′
“I tell all my friends that it’s the best way to enjoy MTB’ing in the best locations with the least amount of work, coordination, scheduling and stress! You guys do it all! All I have to do is show up and hope I am physically fit and technically good enough to ride some of the best trails in the world with likeminded riders, with some of the best Guides and Organizers in the business!”
Day 4: Methodist Mountain (Guts, Sol Train, Lost)
Distance/Climb/Descend: 12 miles, 1300′, 2500′
“Chasing Epic offers an awesome opportunity to ride and shuttle some kick-ass trails I would probably never explore otherwise. Steve puts together amazing trips working with local guides that know how to ride well and have a great knowledge of the area. Always a great time with awesome people riding bikes.”
