What’s New for 2022?
Every year, we’re always looking to incrementally improve the Chasing Epic experience by tweaking trip features and adding elements to various trips… so for 2022, we’ve got some exciting news to share. We’ve listened closely to your feedback (both from our end-of-trip surveys and in person) and for 2022 you can expect the following changes. We can’t wait to ride with you this year!
Longer Trips w/ More Riding
This was the most often-mentioned feedback from our riders over the last two years, and we finally put together a solution that we’re psyched about: LONGER TRIPS! That’s right, each of our standard trips is now 5 days (with the exception of Revelstoke, which is 7) with MORE RIDING! The first day of each trip starts with an evening meetup where we’ll do bike fitting, introductions, and a welcome dinner with drinks- no more showing up after lunch and hurrying out for a three hour ride. Instead, our first ride will now come on Day Two, and will be a full day. That means full days of epic mountain biking on Day Two, Three and Four, and then a solid 3-4 hour ride on the last day before heading home.
The longer trips also mean more lodging (4 nights instead of 3) and more meals (an extra dinner, breakfast and lunch), and we’ve also found it makes traveling into the destination more convenient as well.
A New Destination- Squamish
Just as we’re always looking to improve the trip experience itself, we’re also always looking to expand our destination footprint to include the best riding spots in North America. That’s why for 2022, we’re now operating trips to the mountain biker’s Disneyland, Squamish! Squamish is all about technical riding: slabs, steep features, rocky tech, rooty tech, and some stuff you’ve never imagined before. If you’re looking to progress your technical riding, consider joining us in Coastal BC this year for one of our trips- but don’t wait too long, we only have a few spots remaining on each of our two trips. You can read all about Squamish in the blog post we posted back in November when we initially announced the new location.
Spring Trip: May 19-23, 2022
Late Summer/Fall Trip: September 8-12, 2022
More Shuttles and New Rides
As we explore our existing destinations more and more, we become more familiar with smaller connector trails, drop points, and access roads. And as you already know, we’re always looking to create new routes and rides, making longer days with more fun descents and overall riding. So for 2022, we’ve put together some new rides for each itinerary that include bucket list trails like Doctor Park and Osberg Ridge, but also include off-the-beaten-path trails that you’ve never heard of, and you’ll never see another soul on.
For every one of our destinations, we’re now trying to build in multiple shuttles to start the rides… but remember, that doesn’t always mean there’s no climbing involved. We add shuttle drops to add vertical to the day’s ride, give us point-to-point options, and to maximize the fun factor!
Home Cooked Meals
This is one we’ve been working on for a couple of years, and a new element to our trips that we’re really excited to implement. For all trips in 2022 and beyond, we’ll be working with our in-house chefs or local caterers for all of our meals. We experimented with this for a handful of trips in the second half of 2021 and the feedback was resounding- the food was better, social time was more fun, and the overall experience was better from start to finish. Of course, this also allows us to more easily handle special dietary restrictions as well. Our trips include all meals during your stay with us: from dinner on Day One until breakfast on Day Five… for lunch, we’ll have a wrap or sandwich for you to take on the ride (in addition to nutritional supplements from Skratch, Nuun and Honey Stinger).
In some of our destinations we have famous restaurants- like Hot Tomato in Fruita or Secret Stash in Crested Butte- so we’ll always build that into our dinner lineup as well.
New Demo Bikes
Demo bikes are included in all of our US-based trips (they’re available for a small add’l charge in Revelstoke and Squamish), and we pride ourselves on offering the best demo fleet in the industry. Despite the on-going supply chain issues and overall cluster of bike supplies, we’re working to bring you an incredible set of bikes for 2022. We can’t give anything away just yet, but we should have an announcement in the next couple of weeks.
What’s that, you want a hint? OK… let’s just say that Hank Hill would be proud to ride a couple of the bikes in the stable for 2022.
