Photo Essay: Steep and Rowdy in Revelstoke
Last week we wrapped up an amazing trip in Revelstoke with an awesome group of riders – honestly, one of the most fun trips I’ve operated since starting Chasing Epic 11 years ago! Despite dry and dusty AF conditions all week, everyone embraced the challenging riding and we put together an incredible itinerary of 5 days of steep, intense, rowdy riding that saw folks truly step up their game. Steep chutes, long tech sections, endless slabs, high alpine, bike park flow and more steep tech… this trip truly has it all.
I’ve done my best to show the trip through the images below, along with a brief description of each day’s riding. If you’re looking to hit Revelstoke in 2027, gather your friends for a private group trip and let us know soon – dates are limited but we can make it happen!
Day 1: Macpherson and Boulder Mountain
After arriving the evening before to set up bikes and have our first group dinner, we headed out the first morning to the Macpherson trail system – truly the only area in Revy that offers XC and trail-style riding. This morning was purely a warmup to get the legs and lungs working before jumping into some more serious stuff after lunch. And that we did – afternoon shuttles on Boulder Mountain quickly stepped up the intensity with a few laps (about 5k’ vert) of increasingly steep and technical trails.

Day 2: Frisby Ridge
Day two is our big “pedal day” on Frisby Ridge; after a shuttle drop that gains about 2500′, we climb for just under two hours into the alpine to a killer lunch spot and views that don’t stop. From there, it’s virtually all downhill on an ever-increasingly technical singletrack back to town. First is Frisby Ridge, a flow and slightly chunky trail that drops down what we climbed up. Ultimate Frisby Connector (UFC) gets chunkier and more difficult before hitting Frisby DH which is legitimately steep and technical and will test your skills the whole way down.

Day 3: Boulder Mountain and Martha Creek
What a day. With almost 6k’ vert of shuttle laps in the morning, all of the intense variety, this crew got their fill before lunch on the Columbia River… but then we shuttled another 5k’ to the top of Sale Mountain. Martha Creek is 6 miles and over 5,000′ vertical of unrelenting, super fun tech that will rattle your bones and have you asking for more. Post-ride beers and snacks on the river were well-deserved!

Day 4: Revelstoke Mountain Resort
A nice change of pace from the previous three days of steep technical trails, the group hit the bike park on this day for flow and jump trails with the occasional bike park tech trail mixed in. The smoke had cleared by then so the views from the top of 5620 were quite jaw-dropping. No pictures from today, sadly… too much shredding!
Day 5: Slabs and More Slabs
This morning was guide’s choice, which meant multiple shuttle laps of steep slabs and tech… just what the group wanted. The last couple trails today – Valhalla and Lost Boys – ranked up there with some of the best and toughest we’ve ridden on any Chasing Epic trip!
