Announcing Our 2020 Demo Bikes: Guerrilla Gravity!
Yep, that’s right… for 2020 and beyond, we’re partnering with a local Colorado bike company and we couldn’t be more stoked! Guerrilla Gravity is doing everything right these days from making their own in-house carbon frames, building bikes with tremendous value, and most importantly- making bikes that absolutely rip! We’ve been riding a couple of their bikes since last summer, and we’re confident that you’ll love them as much as we do.
Why Guerrilla Gravity?
If you haven’t been keeping up with the latest reviews and news on the usual media sites like Pinkbike and BikeMag, there’s a chance you haven’t heard much about Guerrilla Gravity since they’re fairly small and don’t have big-name sponsored riders. That said, they’re making waves in a big way and we’re happy to be riding in the same boat. We first talked last summer and it’s been a perfect match ever since.
First off, their bikes rip. We’ve put in big miles on the Trail Pistola and the Shred Dogg, and we absolutely love the bikes. They’re well made, look great, and offer a component package that would cost thousands more with one of the big boutique companies. We think you’ll find the builds we put together more than capable to rip anything you’ll find on a Chasing Epic trip, from Captain Ahab in Moab to Greenhorn-Imperial in Sun Valley. The modern geometry combined with a top of the line spec will keep you grinning for four straight days.
Additionally, they’re a local Colorado company that’s doing things right: last year they developed their own carbon manufacturing process and now make all of their frames in-house in downtown Denver, just 45 minutes from the Chasing Epic headquarters. We love working with other small businesses, and our two companies mesh perfectly.
On To The Bikes…
For 2020 we’ll have two options for you to choose from: the Trail Pistola 29er and the Shred Dogg 27.5″ ripper. This year we decided to offer just one build for each wheel size, mainly because they’re each so capable. Don’t believe us? Pinkbike recently awarded the Trail Pistol the best “downcountry” bike in their Field Test, and made the comment that it’s the only trail 29er they would take to the Whistler bike park. Talk about a ringing endorsement. Know what’s even better? We upped the travel spec on our demos to have a 130mm rear end, and we’re pairing it with a 150mm Lyrik up front… droooool.
Yep, the description on Guerrilla Gravity’s product page shows the Trail Pistol as a 120mm travel singletrack flyer… but what isn’t publicly known is that you can “long shock” the frame to add 10mm of rear travel and turn it into an absolute ripper. We’ve got a demo built up and have been riding it on the rowdiest trails on the Colorado Front Range, and it handles the steepest climbs and rips on the technical descents. For our repeat clients who are familiar with our Ibis demos from last year, we’d call the Trail Pistol the secret love child of the Ripley and Ripmo: it takes the best attributes of both bikes and combines them into a perfect trail bike. We can’t wait to take this bike to Brevard this spring and rip Pisgah one day, then hit Dupont for 25 miles of flow on the next. It’s that good.

For those that still love the smaller 27.5″ wheels and a more playful feel, we’re also carrying the GG Shred Dogg. This bike can be set up in either 130mm or 140mm of rear-end travel, and most likely we’ll leave our bikes in “Gravity Mode” to give you a little extra cushion. Paired with a DVO Sapphire 150mm fork up front, this bike will be super playful while still being more than capable to handle anything you can throw at it.
