Worldwide Cyclery: Whistler BC 2023

Back for the 5th installment of our partnership with Worldwide Cyclery, for 2023 we’re heading north of the border!  Come join Chasing Epic and the crew from Worldwide Cyclery (Jeff, Jared and Liam) for 6 days of riding the Sea to Sky corridor in Whistler, BC from June 10-15th; our rides will encompass the valley trails in Whistler, down the coast in Squamish, up-valley in Pemberton, and an optional day at the world-famous Whistler Bike Park!  This trip will push your technical limits, so make sure you’re prepared: we recommend advanced and expert level riders only.

Each Chasing Epic trip is custom-designed for our clients, but you can expect big days on some of the biggest, baddest, most technical trails in the Sea to Sky corridor.  Make no mistake these are BIG rides, but we’ll also utilize a few shuttles to make sure we’re maximizing the descents and exploring every nook and cranny.  By partnering with our awesome partners at Arbutus Routes, we’ll show you the bucket list rides but we’ll also take you on back country adventures you’d never find on your own.

Per special request from the Worldwide crew, on day 5 there will be an option to ride the Whistler Bike Park all day with Jeff, Jared and Liam.  Personally, we think Jeff just wanted an excuse to build up a kick-ass DH bike!  The total cost for this trip is $2895.

Technical Difficulty: Advanced-Expert

Fitness Level: Intermediate +

Closest Airport: Vancouver (2 hours)

Expected Itinerary

Day 1: Plan on arriving in Whistler by 5:30pm where we’ll have everyone check in and unpack their gear.  We’ll have plenty of time to build bikes and get demos dialed in before having group dinner and drinks that evening.

Day 2: The first full day of riding, we’ll hit the valley trails around Whistler for an intro into what BC riding is all about.  Likely split into AM and PM loops, we’ll hit a combination of classics and show you some of the rowdier options as well, riding both trails on both sides of the valley.

Day 3: For today’s ride, we’re heading 40 minutes south to Squamish to sample some of the world-famous slab riding in Alice Lake.  Expect steep slabs, technical chutes, fast flow trails, and just about anything else you can imagine… we’ll hit trails like Credit Line, Rupert, Pampelmousse, Entrails and In N Out.

Day 4: Time to hit Pemberton, which is 20 minutes north of Whistler and offers more of a rugged backcountry feel with their mix of longer trails and slightly drier climate.  Today’s ride will include a big (but mellow) climb to start, but after that we’ll be up top and can sample world-famous blacks like Rusty Trombone and Creampuff.  Expect to finish the last descent right at Pemberton Brewing for an ice-cold beer to cap the day!

Day 5: Two options today… you can either ride the Whistler Bike Park with Jeff, Jared and Liam, or you can opt for another day of enduro/trail riding in Squamish.  For those that choose the bike park, you’re free to head up as soon as the lifts start spinning at 10am and ride park until your muscles can’t take it anymore.  If you opt to hit Squamish for a second day, we’ll start with a shuttle up to the top of the Diamond Head area where we’ll get into more natural and rugged trails like Cake Walk, Powersmart, and Yer Sister.  We’ll end the day at Locavore for a cold beer before heading up valley back to Whistler.

Day 6: Departure Day!  That said, we still plan on a killer ride in Whistler today, and you won’t want to miss this one; hopefully you still have something left after yesterday’s riding!  One of our favorite descents ever is Dark Crystal, which sits on the Blackcomb side of the resort- we’ll hit this (after a stiff climb!) in combination with something like Comfortably Numb, before wrapping things up around 1pm.  You should have plenty of time to head back down to Vancouver to catch an afternoon flight back home.
